We feel like we are part of history:
Tara began her career at Johnson-Liff casting as an assistant. She worked with Geoffrey Johnson and Vinnie Liff for 15 years. These legendary casting directors were responsible for the casts of over 60 Broadway shows and tours including Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Song and Dance, Starlight Express, and Sunset Boulevard.
She learned to treat all artists with respect and kindness from their example. Their impeccable taste and painstaking attention to detail were important factors in Tara's training and she and her colleagues seek to uphold their principals of integrity and consideration in the casting process.
We asked Rick Elice for help:
We are not (as individuals nor as professionals) formal or prone to brag. We therefore asked one of our long-term clients to write a brief description of us, reprinted here:
Tara and her team aren't merely casting people; they are creative partners. They treat each project with the kind of care and respect and attention that parents try to give their kids. It's personal with them, and they become partners in the birth and upbringing of our "children" - and, after all, that's how we see our shows, as our babies. Like all good parents, these folks are devoted and endlessly tenacious. Like all good partners, they are fiercely loyal and jaw-droppingly creative. I bet every agent adores them, because they love actors so much. Maybe because they're wonderful actors themselves (as anyone who's ever heard them read can attest). Team Tara is the whole package: they will work for your show day and night, and become lifelong friends in the bargain.
We look for interns who are pleasant, enthusiastic, self-motivated, intelligent, and well-organized. Excellent computer and phone skills are a must, as well as a good sense of humor, and the ability to work well with others in a very busy office. Responsibilities include preparing audition materials, assisting with phones, research and other administrative duties. Experience in other theatrical/casting offices is a plus, but not a requirement.
We accept interns for 2-3 month terms throughout the year. We accept current students and recent graduates. If you are interested in applying or learning more about our internship program please send your professional resume and a cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
